The wonders of a fireworks display can be stressful and chaotic for pets. Here are some ways to keep your pets relaxed:
Block out the noise
Close off the doors and windows. This will act as insulation for the noise. Pulling down the curtain and drapes will help reduce the visual chaos that might be frightening for your pets. Make sure your pet’s safe space is far away from doors and windows that may not totally block out the noise and still let some in.
Exercise them in the morning
Exercise your pet in the morning so they get to familiarize themselves with the environment outside your house. This familiarity will be useful if your pet runs off at night due to the fireworks. However, physical activity during the daytime when the sun is out will more likely mean your pet will more likely be too tired or asleep at night during the fireworks display. However, if they aren’t asleep at night and outside the house during the fireworks, make sure to keep your pet on a leash and connect it to a sturdy post or fence.
