Your bad credit score will need to be repaired over time if you've already done this and your score is still low. Although you cannot remove accurate items from your credit repair report, there are still a lot of errors that can damage your score, so you should be aware of these.

The credit repair company must be contacted for a dispute

You can dispute a credit bureau directly by writing a letter. It is intended to inform them of some inaccurate information within your credit file that you believe must be corrected. According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, creditors must report accurate information on every account. Your claim is legally required to be reviewed, investigated, and responded to.

If you want to make sure the removal is complete across the board, it is best to file disputes with each credit bureau. The credit bureau will contact the source of the erroneous information upon receiving the initial claim and will dispute it on your behalf.

Contact the reporting company directly to file a complaint

A credit card issuer and a bank are among the reporting businesses. Law requires them to investigate a dispute and respond after receiving one. You won't have to contact the credit repair reporting agency if the reporting business corrects the issue. You must be sure to finish the clean-up of all three credit bureaus listed above.

If you work it out directly with the lender, you may be able to have the item removed from your report sooner, but this will not necessarily change the amount of time that the item will remain on your report. Your credit repair report will not change unless the lender is contacted and the dispute is resolved.

Pay the creditor for deleting your account

A request for pay-for-delete involves the debtor offers to pay (partly or in full) a debt and in exchange, the original creditor or collector agrees to remove the account from the credit repair report. It is typically used after a debt collection agency has already acquired the debt.

Spending time and energy on a pay-for-delete request may not be worthwhile. Paid collection accounts are not taken into account when calculating your score by the most recent credit scoring models. If you pay a collection account in full, even though it still appears on your credit repair report, it won't harm your score.
