You're going to understand what terpenes are, what do they do? Why do people care so much about them? So let's dive right in. What is a terpene? Really simply put, a terpene is a smell, lots of different plants, and even a couple of different insects produce terpenes. These are smells that the plant uses for a variety of purposes. Maybe it's to deter certain types of insects. Maybe it's to attract certain types of animals. The true terpenes are a really diverse set of molecules. And generally what people refer to when they're talking about terpenes is this smell or flavor of a certain plant. So when we talk about terpenes as they relate to hemp and cannabis, there's something kind of really cool to understand about the plant. The cannabis plant can produce a variety of terpenes.
In fact, it's one of the most diverse, you know, it can produce so many different types of terpenes where most plants only produce maybe two or three. Uh, cannabis can be bred into different strains that have a variety of different terpenes. Let's talk about a few of these terpenes. Myrcene is one of the most common buy terpenes found in almost every single plant. I think it's like what they use to train drug sniffing dogs. Uh, you know, to smell. It's that common. It's almost every single strain. And the other four are common as well. Pinene is that, you know, pinene. Limonene is lemon. Terpinolene is that fruity nutmeg, you know, it has some of that spice of cumin, but it's, it's very fruity. So let's talk about them individually. For myrcene, it's one of the most, uh, associated with Indicas. So when we talk about medical, medical cannabis in terms of people using it for its calming and sedating effects, right? For, you know, people who are on chemo myrcene is the most common terpene that they're looking for. It's really, really common. And, uh, it's in almost every single strain. Pinene is also common as well, but not every strain has pinene. It's kind of like a hit or miss thing and it really depends on the strain.
All of these terpenes for sale are extremely common, but I don't want you to think that there's only five. There's so many more. But these are just the most common five. Now, I don't want to get too much into what people think it does, but it's re, you know, you, you know, pinene now I really wanted to talk about Terpinolene. Terpinolene is special, especially for hemp because it's not really common. The thing to understand about different terpene profiles is that the variety and the choice for different strains and hemp is extremely limited right now. Whereas cannabis strains have been bred for decades and decades into a really diverse set of flavors and smells. And you know, everything about the cannabis plant has really been expanded into so many different directions. The hemp flower stuff is really new, so there aren't that many. Um, different terpene profiles out there. Terpinolene is special in particular because it's not really common in terms of hemp flower strains. I've looked at our strains, I've looked at the strains carried by most of the other hemp flower companies and really there aren't that many strains out there that actually have Terpinolene in it and it's pretty common in the cannabis world. Um, the most famous strain that you know is kind of out there that has a lot of Terpinolene in it.

and then they plotted them.
You can see that for the most part everything clustered really closely together and what this represents is a loss of biodiversity and so has as growers breeders producers selected mutant plant varietals for high THC content they also lost the diversity in the terpene content as well what they show in the circled areas are just three varietals that did seem to sort of separate out those were Harlequin which probably separated out for its CBD content and then two other varietals called trainwreck and Jack Herer and they come their conclusion of the paper was is that the current vernacular nomenclature classifying cannabis chemo vars and sativa or indica is scientifically indefensible and yet we consider continue to use these terms sativa and indica which I call urban Terpenes for sale legend and so they said no distinct sativa group emerged or clustered independently from sativa so they couldn't find any difference you know they they took that into account when they did their analysis whether the plant varietal was told to them to be a sativa or an indica so what we're often talking about in using cannabis is really trichome harvesting and so tripe trichomes are on many many plants as we discussed earlier that the largest plant compound class in the world and there's a lot of different methods of harvesting trichomes dry process is usually called kief dry ice finger hash you can process it in cold water which is also called a hash or bubble or ice wax.

The Terpene Institute And when we have a shortage of experts the market doesn't behave like it should because the consumers are not experiencing the positive effects that they could be experiencing if they are getting good education and good advice and again this being a plant it's a very fuzzy thing as you can see from all the information in our videos here little things make a difference so what is important is quality of products good selection of products folks who can make good recommendations for those products and then consumers who are educated enough to make intelligent choices to choose a product a B or C and to try them out and see which one may work best for them so I do think that the whole industry suffers with a lack of expertise and I hope that part of what we're doing here is to kind of raise the overall level of awareness so that people can make good choices out there for this botanical so again with botanical medicine there are so many things to consider and it is not so much having an ideal perfect product but having the patient be aware and be able to make choices and adjustments so again knowledge is a very critical thing and that's one of the things we're here doing it medical marijuana for one one you
