A High-End Battery with a High Energy Density and High Voltage Can Be Made with Sodium Metal

Sodium metal is a soft metallic element that can produce new compounds when combined with oxygen. The capacity of Na to generate chemical compounds with oxygen was discovered via the electrolysis technique. An electric current is passed through a solution containing either sulfuric or hydrated chloride in this chemical process. With the help of an electrochemical reaction, the electrons in sulfuric compounds are reorganised into pairs in the presence of Na metal ions in the solution. The molecule that results has the ability to assume a configuration that is specific to that metal.

The Sodium metal is very corrosive and water-reactive. Sodium benzoate, on the other hand, is an excellent mild steel corrosion inhibitor in distilled water, moderately hard mains water, and very dilute sodium chloride solutions (e.g. 03% ). As a result, friction stirrers, machinery parts, and even friction reduction equipment frequently contain them. In reality, it is employed as a friction reducer in a variety of materials, including steel. Sodium benzoate, on the other hand, does not provide total corrosion prevention. Corrosion resistance is not the same as structural integrity. A material's structure must be strong enough to withstand natural pressures that can degrade it in order for it to resist corrosion. This means that a sodium cathode, for example, should not be so stiff that it is susceptible to impact or vibration-induced fissures. The cathode would otherwise shatter.
