Gmail is a free email service provider by Google. It is an efficient and secure method for sending your personal and professional emails with a single username and password.

There are chances where your Gmail account crashed then your all-important mails will be lost. If you want to safeguard your important mails then you have to back up your emails to a local drive.


" I work for an MNC and daily I have to send and receive emails. Now my drive is full and there is no space for new emails so I want to backup my emails in the local drive. Also, want separate backup files for different clients?"


"I am having thousand of mail in my Gmail account and I want a backup for my important mails only. Is there any solution for my problem ?"


"Hi I am Sheetal and I am working as Hr in Ace Consultancy. There has been a daily routine to send, receive and follow up emails with clients. Last weekend I was unable to access my Gmail account because of downtime or server error. That leads to a huge loss for our company in a single day. Today our technical head asked me to backup Gmail emails locally so that we can access emails in such type of unplanned situations. Do you also have the same query in your mind? then in this article, I am sharing some solutions to backup your Emails issues.


Solution 1: Save Emails using "Download Message"

Step 1 - Open your mail with your user id and password.

Step 2 - Select the mail which you want to save.

Step 3. Select a more (....) option and click on Download the mail option.

Step 4. Your mail is downloaded, check your Download folder for files with .eml file type.

Solution 2: Download Emails through Google Takeout Service


Step 1 - Login to Google Takeout Account with your Gmail user-id and password.

Step 2 - Go to Google Takeout Setting and select the service from which you want to save data.

Step 3 - Select the method to download files, such as Drive, DropBox, Hard Drive, etc.

Step 4 - Select whether you prefer this to be a one-time archive or a recurring process.

Step 5 - Select the file format(.zip, .tgz).

Step 6 - Cleck your selected location for your archive.

I check the above method to backup my Emails, it is easy to process but there is some limitation that I faced.

1. It is very time-consuming.

2. Risk of Data loss.

3. No Email Backup Filters.


Then one of my friends recommends me Advik Gmail Backup Tool. I download and install it on my pc and used it. This software works as my expectation and it provides me with email filters that help me to backup my particular emails. This tool also backup entire emails in my local and hard drive.
