Established in 2016, the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences (FASC) is responsible for imbibing knowledge to budding agriculturalists. We put great emphasis on practical crop production, experiential learning, skill development, and industrial attachment. The university also offers smart classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, poly houses along with 20 hectares of farmland for students' practical, demonstration and research.
The FASC follows the syllabus recommended by the Fifth Deans Committee of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
Centres Of Excellence
Biotechnology Laboratory
A fully equipped Biotechnology Lab is available for undergraduates where several workshops on CRISPR-Cas gene editing Noble Prize-winning technology was conducted in collaboration with Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, Asia-India, ICAR (NRRI and NIPB), DBT (NABI, Mohali).
Soil Testing Laboratory
The SGT University operates a Static Soil Testing Lab approved by the Government of Haryana under the National Soil Health Mission.
Outreach Activities
The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences adopted several nearby villages under its community service and outreach activities programs to give students hands-on experience.
Urban Agriculture
We at the SGT University encourage the students to innovate new ways of urban agriculture. Most popular are hydroponics, rooftop floriculture, and vegetables, vertical farming, mushroom cultivation, waste management, etc.
Crop Cafeteria
The SGT University has a unique cafeteria of field crops, fruit crops and vegetables, floriculture, and medicinal and aromatic plants to help students identify the different crops.
INDUSTRY INTERFACE, INTERNSHIPS, PLACEMENTS & GLOBAL IMMERSION PROGRAM
The Corporate Resource Centre (CRC) provides guidance and full support to the students for training at different levels and placements in various companies/ agribusiness units. Centre for Language helps in improvement of communication skills and to learn foreign languages. Junior Research Fellowship preparation/training is provided by faculty/guest faculty of the FASC. The FASC also developed collaborations with the industry and academic institutions so that students develop the necessary skills, research capabilities and be ready to take up the employment and entrepreneurship challenges ahead.
The FASC is proud to say that most of its pass-out students of batch 2016-20 were absorbed in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Haryana.
