Experts do suggest that adults should sleep for at least 7-9 hours a day, although there are some people who require more of it and some require less of it. That totally depends upon person to person. Adults age between 18-54 years takes an average sleep of about 6.4 hours on weekdays and 7.7 hours on weekends. There are several reasons for less sleep such as they do use the internal at night and can bring work from the office. There are disturbed sleep patterns in adults and elderly aged people because they are having a higher tendency to pain, and they more often wake up for urination in the night.
Moreover, if you are Consuming caffeine before going to the bed it can cause a loss of three to five hours of sleep.

That is why experts do suggest that it is not a good habit if you tend to consume caffeine before you go to the bed.


What will happen if a person is not getting enough amount of sleep?


Sleep deprivation can cause tiredness, interfere with cognitive function, can cause learning disability in children, memory impairment in people of all ages, and depression.
People who suffer from sleep deprivation are not able to take wise decisions, do face irritability have problems with performance at the workplace, have slower reaction times, and greater risk for automobiles and work-related accidents. Moreover, sleep deprivation can also cause diabetes, obesity, and heart disease.

Females are more likely to develop a sleep disorder than men.

There are many reasons such as physical, medical, psychiatric, environmental and genetics, medications, and ageing that do cause sleep disorders.
