According to the Hindu calendar, the festival of Deepawali is celebrated every year on the new moon day of the Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. This five-day Diwali festival starts from Dhanteras and continues till Bhai Dooj after Narak Chaturdashi, Diwali, Govardhan Puja.
