Balance Bike with Brake

Some of the balance bikes have a manual brake installed. Bicycles of this type are very good for older children: for example, 3 years old. Young children can have trouble braking this way. One advantage of the bike with a handlebar brake is undoubtedly the quick learning of braking correctly. In the future, the child will have less trouble riding a classic bike.

Handlebar rotation limitation

Many of the balance bikes have a special handlebar rotation lock. It is a perfect solution for children who are just beginning to learn to ride a balance bike. Limited rotation makes the handlebar turning range less than on a normal bike. Therefore, the risk of uncontrolled falls is lower and the inexperienced rider can concentrate on learning to ride and perfecting coordination.

Balance bikes and other amenities

Steel or wooden frame balance bikes often have adjustable seats and sometimes also handlebars (usually the handlebar is adjustable on steel bikes). Thanks to this, without problem, you will adjust the bicycle to the age of your child. Before choosing the balance bike, see if you have the option of adjusting one or both of the items mentioned.

There are bicycles, such as the Kinderfeets balance bike, that also have comfortable footrests that allow the child to support the legs when they tire. Some of them are equipped with accessories that allow you to organize very long walks: these are, of course, bags and baskets, in which all small children's items such as a pack of wet wipes, a bottle of water or the favorite stuffed animal can fit.

We cannot forget the bell: not only will it bring great joy to the little one, but it will also inform everyone around them that the little cyclist is approaching. This is very important when learning to drive. Remember to buy a helmet for the little cyclist: the SAFETY children's bicycle helmet will protect your child's delicate head and, thanks to its many holes, it will guarantee good ventilation even on muggy days.

You already know what the differences are between balance bikes and what their advantages are. Now is the time to help you adapt the bike to your needs and the child's needs. It is not as difficult as it seems, if we define our expectations well regarding the model of balance bike that we are looking for.

Bike size

The most important characteristic when choosing a balance bike is, without a doubt, its size. The child, so that he can move his legs freely, has to have his legs slightly bent at the knees and touch the ground with the whole sole of the foot. If we are looking for a bicycle for a child of about 2 years and 80 cm in height, it would be perfect if the seat was at a height of 26-32 cm from the ground. In this regard, it is worth choosing a bicycle with a height- adjustable seat to be able to adjust the bicycle even better to the child's height.

Weight

The weight of the bicycle is important for both the child and the parent. The less the bike weighs, the easier the handling for the child. On the other hand, for the father a low weight is relevant because the father is the one who will be carrying the bicycle when the child stops using it on the ride.

When you already choose some models that meet all your requirements, just check which bike they like from an aesthetic point of view. Ask your child which bike he likes the most and ... voila! ;) Thanks to our advice, choosing the balance bike will be easier and you will be able to enjoy all the advantages and benefits of balance bikes faster :)
