Richmond Hill Acupuncture Treatment

Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are two major components of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which has been practiced for 2000 years. Its theory and clinical practice has been continuously refined and updated. The general goal of this treatment is to find the the cause of a disease and help treat it. Not just its symptoms, mind you, but also by re-establishing balance and overall harmony within the body. Acupuncture involves needles that are inserted into certain points on the body, the hands, the feet, the face, and the head. These needles are fine point and sterilized to ensure the utmost in safety. The points where the needles are placed are selected according to a combination of complex Chinese medical studies and the experimental data gathered over thousands upon thousands of years.

There are two main approaches to acupuncture; an ancient form of Chinese medicine and Contemporary Acupuncture. Our professionals practice both traditional and contemporary acupuncture. At Maya Physio & Health Inc., we also offer one-on-one treatment sessions. No support staff will be replacing your therapist.

How does Acupuncture work?

Acupuncture is needling a number of points on the body according to the patient’s ailment. The commonly used points are several hundred in numbers and are scattered all over the body. The needles used are sterilized, very thin and are disposed of once used. Most patients feel an immediate sense of calm and relief and some fall sleep under the treatment.

Can Acupuncture help you?

Acupuncture can be effective as a single method of treatment or in combination with other therapeutic interventions. At Maya Physio & Health, we practice acupuncture to treat and provide relief for the following conditions:

Is Acupuncture safe?

When this treatment is performed by a qualified, licensed practitioner, acupuncture is 100% safe and comes with no side effects to be worried about. Unfavourable reactions to acupuncture are extremely rare — if you have any questions about this procedure, as always, it is best to contact your general practitioner. The needles used are sterilized / disposable needles that are only used on one patient and discarded after the treatment. Other adjunct treatments such as Moxibustion, Cupping and Electro-Acupuncture might be used depending on the circumstances.
