Healthy Snack Recipes to Suppress the Boring Hunger for Kids

Food is fuel and snacks are more effective fuel if you keep it in check. The idea of a kid with no energy is something out of a horror movie. In fact, a kid that runs around like a maniac is often more of a nuisance and less of a threat than a kid that doesn’t eat. Even more importantly, snacks are important for good dental health. A kid that is chewing on a snack every 30 minutes won’t have very good dental health.

To make sure that your kid stays fed and healthy, you need to keep snacks in check and get creative in the kitchen. Below are some of the best healthy snack recipes to suppress the boring hunger for kids. Some of these are quick and easy and some are a little more involved, but all are tasty and healthy!

Fried Cheese Ball

This is one of the favorite healthy snacks for kids. If you love pizza and cheese balls, this one's for you. Cut the cheese into cubes and then mix the cubes with bread crumbs and chopped broccoli. Then roll the bread cubes in egg wash and roll them in a mixture of plain and panko breadcrumbs. Then deep fry the whole thing and stick it in a foil-covered pan with some sugar and cinnamon in the batter. Bake the whole thing for a few minutes to warm the cheese ball and add a hint of sweetness. This is a great snack to get your kids to eat broccoli! We hope you like it.

Sweet and Spicy Snacks

If you’re going to make a sweet snack, why not make it spicy too? This is a great little recipe to impress your kid. Start by using a mix of chocolate chips and peanut butter chips. Combine the chips and spread them out on a baking sheet. Heat in the oven and let cool. Meanwhile, heat a tablespoon of oil in a skillet. Pour the chips into the hot oil and turn them until browned all over. Sprinkle some sugar over the chips and top with cinnamon. Serve these with fruit.

Sweet and Spicy Fruit Pretzel Skewers

If you’re looking for a sweet and spicy snack, you can’t beat this recipe. Start by making pretzels! Use a soda bottle and a hot water bath to make soda bottle pretzels. Cut the pretzels into 2.5-inch pieces and then make some pepper jelly. If you don’t like pepper jelly, we suggest you use a few packets of liquid hot sauce. Put some pepper jelly on one side of each pretzel, add some hot sauce, and you have the coolest snack ever!

Hot Potato Chips

We are sure you already know how to make hot chips, but here’s an easier way. Heat a pan with 2 tablespoons of oil, add some hot sauce, and cook. Top the chips with salt and drizzle some chocolate syrup over the chips. Bake in the oven and you’ll have the best snack ever.

Sweet and Spicy Apple Fritters

These sweet and spicy apple fritters are a wonderful snack and also make a perfect holiday treat. Start by slicing apples. Melt a tablespoon of butter in a pan and add the apples. If your apples are too hard to fry, then boil them until tender.

If you have a lot of apples, it might be good to cut them into small cubes to avoid browning the apples. Heat a tablespoon of oil in a pan and add the apples. Stir to coat with the oil and add one teaspoon of ginger. Add a little more oil if needed. Fry the apples until golden brown. Sprinkle it with sugar and add cinnamon. Serve hot.
