IRS exam


IRS is a  Civil service examination conducted by UPSC, candidate selection process is underway to fill 24 key posts in India. IPS, IRS and IFS are prestigious posts compared with others. Various roles are covered by the UPSC, including IRS, Indian Revenue Services, Collector, Cabinet Secretary, and Chief Secretary. Therefore, IRS officers must perform a range of duties, right from implementing policies to regulating the country's finances. Indirect and direct taxes owing to the Central Government are collected and managed by this agency. 

Basic eligibility criteria:

  • Preliminary selection, Primary selection and interview are the three different stages of recruitment. 
  • any degree acknowledges by the recognized university
  • Candidate must be an indian citizen
  • Applicant should be at least 21 years of age and maximum age limit for general category is 32 years.

Exam Mode: 

  • Preliminary:  2 Paper with 100 Marks - aspirant’s knowledge and understanding of current events and skills in aptitude
  • Mains: 8 Paper with a total of 2025 Mark - Questions from the subject selected by the candidate.
  • Interview:


UPSC will issue the Admit Card 4 weeks before the exam date. Applicants can download the permit card only from the official website.  UPSC will release the result on the official website.
