In his address to graduates of Allahabad University in 1947, Jawaharlal Nehru, the
first prime minister of India, expressed the importance of higher education as follows:
“A university stands for humanism, for tolerance, for reason, for the adventure of
ideas and for the search for truth. It stands for the onward march of the human race toward
higher objectives. Universities are places of ideas and idealism. If the universities discharge
their duties adequately, then, it is well with the nation and people”
As a part of coordination and maintenance of standard higher education, UGC
(University Grant Commission ) has set up an inter-university institution of quality
assessment and accreditation. This is named as NAAC (National Assessment and
Accreditation Council ).
Quality of Higher Education has become an imperative need for developing appropriate
human resources in a globalized world. The increasing number and variety of education
institutions in India, with various subjects and diverse student population have diluted the
quality of higher education. Due to this concern, NAAC, an autonomous body of the
University Grants Commission which has the mandate of assessing and accrediting
universities and colleges. Besides this function, NAAC acts as a catalyzing agent to motivate
institutions of higher learning to achieve excellence. NAAC follows institutional assessment
and accreditation, resulting in a Cumulative Grade Point Average for the Institution. The
process of assessment and accreditation is so far voluntary and therefore, NAAC would
assess and accredit the institutions that volunteer for undergoing the process.
Is the Accreditation Process a headache for you? Repetitive administrative work,
Maintenance of lots of documents, Data gathering, Data privacy, Data lost, Monitoring
entries of critical information, Maintaining data in specific formats, Organizing reports and
many more things become a headache for institutes. But, It’s the 21st century. Technology is
at its peak and it’s never late to explore technologies. In our opinion, Universities and
institutes will find the NAAC accreditation module of Education ERP to be convenient and
easy to use. However, universities need to start using admission modules, academic
modules, exam modules, HR modules, etc. as of now. Therefore, whenever the need to
apply for accreditation, all data will be easily available, and the process becomes
streamlined.
NAAC does more than give you a grade, it will help and improve your institutes in many
ways. Such as, Analysis of SWOT & Continuous Improvement, Increase the placement
rate, Improve internal process and communication as well as external, Make Teaching
methods more effective.
