Things to Do After You've Moved

1. Take a look at your house inventory.

Once you enter your beautiful house, you could forget about the cups you got for Christmas or the coffee machine (since you have two!). Make a house inventory list to ensure that all of your belongings will accompany you.

2. Arrange your furnishings as soon as possible!

While you have additional hands on deck, make the most of your time by enlisting assistance; placing (and rearranging) heavy furniture on your own is a lot of labor.

3. Take a quick visual inspection of any significant appliances or furnishings.

Check to see if the couch bed has all of its feet, if the dishwasher cord hasn't been yanked out and if the flat-screen TV hasn't been damaged.

4. Make sure everything is in its proper place.

You probably wouldn't want to move the refrigerator yourself from the living room to the kitchen. Request that the mover's position items where they will be needed.

5. Clean up the new location.

Although the previous owner may have cleaned the house, a simple vacuum will benefit your nasal cavities.

6. Inform all of the contacts of your new address.

Notifications invite and birthday cards should not be overlooked. Notify your relatives and friends of your new location.

7. Make a list of emergency numbers.

If you're thousands of miles away from your best pals, don't expect them to show up at 3 a.m. because you heard noises downstairs. Get the phone numbers for the police station, fire station, and hospital in your area.
