Liquefied natural gas is used for what?

What exactly is Liquefied Natural Gas?

Natural gas that has been cooled to a liquid condition (liquefied) at roughly -260° Fahrenheit for shipping and storage is known as liquefied natural gas (LNG). In a natural gas pipeline, the volume of liquid natural gas is around 600 times smaller than the volume of gaseous natural gas. This 19th-century liquefaction method allows natural gas to be transported to regions where natural gas pipelines do not reach and to be used as a transportation fuel.

Liquefied Natural Gas expands natural gas markets.

Liquefying natural gas is a technique to transmit natural gas from producing regions to markets, such as to and from the United States and other countries, when natural gas pipelines are not viable or do not exist. The Asian countries account for the majority of worldwide LNG imports.

Natural gas is delivered to LNG export plants via pipeline, where it is liquefied and transported on special ocean-going LNG ships or tankers. The majority of LNG is delivered in massive, onboard super-cooled (cryogenic) tanks by tankers known as LNG carriers. LNG can also be carried in smaller ISO-compliant containers that can be transported on ships and trucks.
