What Are The Benefits Of Using AWS Monitoring And Logging Services

AWS Monitoring and logging services can be used to monitor, log, access, and store all the critical log files from multiple cloud resources and services. It enables the centralization of log files from all your systems, applications, and cloud services used by you, in a highly scalable, single service. You can easily view and search for particular error codes or patterns, and filter them based on certain specific fields or archive them securely for future analysis. AWS Monitoring and Logging Services gives you complete visibility of all your logs, regardless of their source as a single and consistent flow of events or sort them based on dimensions. Additionally, they can be grouped by specific fields, develop custom computations, and visualize logs on a dashboard.

You can use AWS Monitoring and Logging Services to monitor applications and systems using log data. It can effectively track the rate of errors in your applications logs and notifies you when the rate of errors crosses a predefined threshold. AWS Monitoring uses log data for monitoring, thereby eliminating the need for code changes. For instance, application logs can be monitored for literal terms or count the number of occurrences at a particular position in your log data. When the term which is being searched for is found, AWS monitoring and logging services report the data to a cloud metric specified by you. The log data is encrypted when it is in transit or at rest.

Additionally, you can perform queries to help you efficiently and effectively respond to operational issues. AWS Cloud Monitoring insights contains a purpose-built query language with simple, yet powerful commands. Furthermore, you can create alarms and receive notifications for API activities and use the information to perform a comprehensive analysis. As a default procedure, logs are stored indefinitely and they never expire. A retention policy can be adjusted for each log group, preserving the indefinite retention, or letting you choose a retention period between 10 years and one day. AWS Monitoring and Logging services can also be used to log your data in highly durable storage, making it relatively straightforward to send both rotated and unrotated log data off a host and into the log service.
