The Best Ski Resorts in and around Manchester, New Hampshire

When we hear New Hampshire, skiing is probably not the first thing that comes to mind. Yet, to our surprise, The Granite State has much to offer in terms of tourism and ski resorts.

New Hampshire’s motto “Live Free or Die” is better reflected on its outdoor recreational front. Every year, plenty of New Englanders visit New Hampshire to ride down the many slopes of the city.

Manchester may be a small city but there are numerous ski resorts around it that make it a great city for vacation.

Here are the best ski resorts in and around Manchester for you to enjoy your next ski outing.

McIntyre Ski Area

Not New Hampshire’s biggest ski resort but definitely the one with the most heart. McIntyre is also the closest ski resort to Manchester city and has been serving locals with access to slopes and outdoor winter recreational activities.

The ski resort has been standing since 1971 and six years after its establishment, it introduced a ski school to teach children and adults the art of skiing.

The resort has nine runs and four chairlifts, which marks its modesty. Besides skiing, McIntyre also has ten tubing lanes stretching over 420 feet in length.

Pats Peak Ski Area

Located at half an hour of distance from downtown Manchester, Pats Peak Ski Area is the best ski resort to hang out with your family.

This ski area has something for everyone including snowboarding lessons for all ages, homecooked meals, and snow tubing.

The Pats Peak Ski Area offers a ski area across 115 acres, 93 of which is compatible with night skiing.

There’s also a snow tubing option available for visitors who are not into snowboarding. Parents who are looking for a little time for themselves can also make use of the daycare facility available here.

Crotched Mtn

Nobody appreciates snow in New Hampshire like the folks at Crotched Mtn, probably because the resort has 100% snowmaking capability.

Crotched Mountain resort offers ski and snowboard equipment for rent as well as group lessons for people of all ages and skill levels.

It contains 100 groomed skiable areas with tree glades and steep slides accompanying the trail.

Moreover, Crotched is the only resort on East Coast that allows visitors to stay on the slopes until midnight.

Ragged Mountain Resort

An hour away from Manchester, Ragged Mountain Resort is everything a person, a couple, or a family might look for in a ski resort.

It has two classy New England-styled lodges to provide all the amenities one could need.

The resort has six ski lifts, one of which is New Hampshire’s only high-speed six-pack.

It has more than 250 acres of skiable terrain, 200 of which have snowmaking capability.

Mount Sunapee Resort

Home to the biggest mountain in the southern part of the Granite State, the Mount Sunapee Resort has been open for over seven decades.

It is a family-owned resort that has been in operation since 1998

The resort has more than 232 acres of skiable terrain with 66 runs and 215 acres of snowmaking capability.

Although the resort is broken down into beginner and intermediate trails, there are a few stunning options available for advanced skiers.

Gunstock Mountain Resort

Once known as “Belknap Mountain Recreation Area”, Gunstock Mountain Resort was finished in 1937. Since then, it has evolved into a family-friendly and adventurous resort that attracts tourists as well as the locals.

The resort has 227 acres of skiable area with 48 runs most of which are suitable for intermediate and advanced skiers.

Besides skiing and snowboarding, Gunstock also offers a wide range of winter recreational activities including tubing and snowshoeing.

These are one of the most astonishing places to visit for snowboarding. If you are new to these places and finding it hard to roam free, then I would suggest you hire an experienced guide or hire a professional manchester car service to take you through all of these places without any hindrance.

W V Resort

Waterville Valley Resort, W V for short, is one of the best ski resorts in the state. It has beautiful accommodation solutions, amazing places to dine, shop, and explore.

W V has hosted a number of races and competitions and is a frequent travel destination for many celebrities.

Waterville Valley also has a ski school that aims to teach the art of skiing to people of all ages and skill levels.

Loon Mountain Ski

Located in the picturesque White Mountain National Park, Loon Mountain is about an hour and a half away from Manchester.

Loon Mountain is your perfect winter wonderland that boasts skiing, riding, snow tubing and terrain parks.

Loon Mountains was opened in the year 2007 and has its base elevation of 950 feet with snowmaking around 99% of the resort.
