What is ndis and its facts

If you’ve been looking for details about the new Medicare reforms then look no further! We’ve got you covered with 5 facts about the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The new healthcare scheme will roll out across Australia over the next 10 years. You will receive a personalised plan to get the most from your benefits and you’ll be able to receive funding for home care and community services if you need it.

1. If you’re under the age of 18 and you have a long-term condition, you could be eligible for funding

The NDI scheme applies to people who are under the age of 18 and have a long-term condition. You may have a long-term condition if you have a chronic illness, disability, injury, or condition that has lasted at least 12 months. The amount of funding available varies based on the nature of your condition and the kind of assistance you need.

2. You’ll need to speak to your doctor first to determine the level of help you need

If you’re struggling to manage your condition, your GP will be able to provide information on the different levels of care and services available in your area. Your doctor will be able to tell you about the level of care you need, how often you need care, and what other assistance you may be eligible for. For more information on your GP visit the Australian Medical Association website.

3. Home and community services will be covered

Facts about NDIS plans will be designed to offer a safe and supportive environment in your home and the community, including in the areas of:

  • personal care
  • psychosocial support
  • home and community support
  • work and study
  • medical care.

Access to these supports will be a standard part of your plan. If you have specific needs, they will be provided as long as they are reasonably practicable and available. You won’t be expected to cover the cost of these supports, but you may be required to pay a certain percentage of your benefits. The amount you pay will depend on your income and how much of your benefits you are eligible for. To find out more about this, visit the National Disability Insurance Scheme webpage.

4. You’ll get a personalized plan based on your unique circumstances

Your plan will cover your healthcare needs for the next 10 years. It will include an account for the amounts that you pay for your health care, as well as an account for your support services. Your plan will tell you how much of your benefits you are eligible for, the support services that you are eligible for, and the level of services that you can access.

4. Participants who are eligible for the NDIS do not receive cash payments.

Although it might seem like a simple concept, the whole point of the NDIS is that it isn’t. Participants are eligible for the NDIS if they have a disability that is expected to substantially and long-term affect their ability to participate and/or be actively involved in the community. Participants pay the government a flat fee each fortnight for their support. The government also pays a monthly supplement to each participant, which is based on the needs and capabilities of each individual.
