Turkey has recently seen a rapid increase in knowledge regarding aquaculture and fish feed production.The rapid growth in aquaculture and fish-feed production has been facilitated by the development of science researcs and investments.First, the name "fish feed" was first recorded in Turkey in 1999 (38425 tons). In 2006, the quantity of fish feed increased to 70153 tonnes.In 1986, aquaculture knowledge was first recorded. The production volume was 3075 tons.The total production of aquaculture in Turkey increased by 118277tons in 2005. This means that Turkey's aquaculture production was share 22 percent.Hilsa (Tenualosa ilisha), is the largest fishery in Bangladesh and a very popular food fish.Chandpur is well-known for its Hilsa, hence the name "City of Hilsa".This study was done from July 2016 to December 2016. It was designed to understand the salting process, and to determine the supply chain analysis for salted Hilsa in order to better manage this trade.The primary data collection was conducted using a structured questionnaire. Interviews were made directly with fishermen, fisherpeople, fish retailers, and other related personnel.Secondary data were gathered from the Bangladeshi daily newspapers, both local and national.Hilsa can be processed in either dry or wet salted forms.Salted Hilsa can then be traded in the country, mainly to buyers from Sherpur or Jamalpur districts via truck or pick up.Salted Hilsa can be transported by small, medium, and large trucks. Each box has a maximum weight of 160 kg.Salted Hilsa from these two districts are sold to the district buyers at 250-300 Taka/kg, to local buyers at 350 to 400 Taka/kg, and finally to local consumers at a cost of 250-300 Taka/kg.Also, salted Hilsa can be prepared in Dhaka (Patuakhali), Barishal and Bhola. They are sold to Sherpur, Jamalpur and Mymensingh buyers at 350-400 taka/kg and Rangpur and Thakurgaon district buyers.Exporting salted Hilsa is an option to make salted Hilsa a value-added product that can be exported. Foreign currency can also be earned.
