5 Fantastic Free Writing Tools for Bloggers

I write new blog posts every single day, and I spend a lot of my writing workflow between various free writing tools. Here, I have collated my favourite free writing tools for bloggers. I trust you find the following software useful for your own writing.

Free writing tools for bloggers

Here’s the five writing software tools, in alphabetical order.

Capitalize My Title

https://capitalizemytitle.com/

This does exactly what it says on the box, I am forever changing the title case on posts, and it is so easy to just cut and paste between this tool and my text editor. For such a simple tool, it is one of my most favourite free writing tools for bloggers.

Dupli Checker

https://www.duplichecker.com/

Even when you know you didn’t copy any content from anywhere else, it is amazing how often this will discover some perceived plagiarism anyway. It is worth checking for plagiarism and  trying to get that score to zero, just to be safe, especially from Google penalties or something.

FixSpell.com

https://www.fixspell.com/

This super handy tool swaps all the words in US English to International English equivalents, making it super easy to change the language within an article, without resorting to changing every word one at a time.

Side note, did you know there are more than 1,800 words that are different between the two flavours of English? I was very surprised!

Google Docs

https://docs.google.com/

I do all my writing in Google Docs. One, it is easy because I can access it from any device anywhere, and secondly, because their grammar and spell check tools are far better than most of the other text editor software I have ever tried.

Google Docs is the number one among my favourite free writing tools for bloggers, and the fact is that it is free makes it even better.

Hemingway

https://hemingwayapp.com/

Want to ensure that your article can be read by as large an audience as possible? Then you will want to try it out using Hemingway, which will pick up all sorts of grammar issues, as well as passive voice and the like. A fantastic addition to my list of favourite free writing tools for bloggers.

Great writing software makes the writing process easier

Writing software often falls into the category of ‘software to make the writing process easier.’ But it is not simply a case of writing better and faster, but also of changing how you think about writing.

What is it to be a writer? To be someone who writes? What does this person wish they could do? What does she wish she could change about her writing? These are questions which, I believe, should also be explored.

It is not enough to write, however good our words may be. We must write in order to be remembered and valued by our readers. We must write with style and grace in order to evoke the emotion we want from our audience, and more importantly, we must write with clarity in order to convey what we mean to those around us.

In an age where the internet has made it easy for us all to communicate with anyone regardless of geography or social status (which is better for my readers than being diplomatic), what does this mean for writers? How do we express ourselves on a screen as well as on paper? And why should I care if my words are spoken rather than written?

Good software should help with editing and proofreading

Everyone has those moments where the words just don’t come out the way you wanted them to. It happens when you’re trying to convey a complex idea, and it happens when you want to sound like you’ve read a lot of literature.

Even if your writing is great, you can still run into problems with finding the right words or phrases for certain occasions, hence the need for great writing tools for bloggers and writers of all types.
