Unknown Viking History - Teutonic Valkyries Fight Romans in 118BC

Hidden Viking Facts

Our Viking ancestors' history has been largely obliterated or covered up. The people of the twenty-first century know only what the media and Hollywood tell them. They are portrayed as primitive barbarians in "The Vikings" movies and on the History Channel.

Nowhere in our education system will you find a discussion of them. Everybody always talks about ancient Europeans, Native Americans, Romans, Egyptians, and Greeks. How come, in a country populated largely by people of Aryan, Scandinavian, Germanic, and Celtic descent? Some obscure facts about the Vikings are presented here. However, the "Viking Migration" of around 900 AD, which gets the bad press, is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the history of our ancestors.

To begin, the Vikings are a race of Aryans. They are all part of the Aryan race, which also includes the Scandinavians and the Germans. They've been making history for a lot longer than a single millennium. They were both Northern European refugees. They split up at a place called Thule on their way down.

What better way to celebrate the Shetland Islands' Up Helly Aa than with your very own celebration? Here,s the best viking shield and Norse fancy dress costumes available, so feasting and drinking shouldn't be a problem. Either construct your own Viking galley and burn it to the ground (legally speaking, of course) or have a simple bonfire. This option is up to you.

The Scandinavian countries are home to the Norse people. In other words, the native Germans. They all believed in the same gods, read the same runes, and were upstanding citizens with a taste for adventure. The history of the Vikings prior to the year 1000 AD is rife with tales of heroism and glory. You can learn more about these people by looking up related terms such as the Cimbrians, Teutonians, Saxons, Longobards, Chatti, Cherusci, and others.

They're members of the Aryan Viking Brotherhood. For example, I would like to tell you a long-lost tale about the Teutonic Valkyries women. In ancient times, Cimbrians (Teutons) populated Jutland. They towered over everyone else, all blue eyes and blond hair.

Iron breastplates and helmets topped with the heads of vicious animals were standard issues for these warriors. They brandished white shields in an effort to confuse their opponents. They threw two-pronged spears and fought with shorter swords. Female warriors were as fierce as their male counterparts in battle. The Romans were alarmed by their migration and invasion into their territory in 113 BC. Counselor Marius of the Romans attacked them and soundly defeated them.

The Romans stormed the castle of wagons by entering through the square. The Valkyries of Cimbria fought with heroic desperation. When they realized their men had been completely defeated, the women and children among them committed mass suicide rather than risk being sold into slavery. The Cimbrians' time in Italy came to an end after that.

It's time Hollywood stopped making movies about ancient Indians, Greeks, Romans, and Chinese and started telling the stories of our own courageous forebears.

What the heck is going on?

Ragnar Storyteller (real name Ellis Peterson) is a Korean War vet who, along with his wife Lory and their dog Dixie, makes their home in the remote Pocono Mountains. As a math professor and electronics engineer, he taught before he retired. There are over two hundred articles and booklets he has written on topics such as runes, radionics, quantum physics, Viking history, orgone generators, and alternative healing methods. Thanks to his innovations, Ragnar, who is well into his 70s, passes for a man in his 50s. More of Ragnar Storyteller's rants about quantum physics and other topics are available on his website.

Party Theme - We Suggest a Viking Themed Up Helly Aa Celebration

Do you need a fancy dress idea for a winter party? Up Helly Aa, which commemorates the Norse custom of burning a galley and sending it to Valhalla, is a fantastic party, in our opinion.

Burning their Viking galley in January sends the town of Lerwick on the Shetland Islands a little bit crazy every year. There will be no weather-related cancellations, the organizing committee has boldly proclaimed.

Nothing has stopped the Up Helly Aa guizers from putting on a great show, which, despite only lasting a day and a night, is a testament to the tenacity and resolve of the people to celebrate no matter what the midwinter weather throws at them.

The spectacular Up Helly Aa is a joyous observance of Shetland's past. The northern equivalent of Mardi Gras, the festivities are led by the "Guizer Jarl," a figure based on one from the Norse Sagas. Over the course of 24 hours, he will stand at the helm of his doomed galley as 800 to 1,000 disguised men carrying blazing torches from a blazing procession winding towards the burning site, wearing a costume that may have taken two years to make.

A crack Viking unit is pulling the Galley to the incineration site so that it can be sent to Valhalla. This group of warriors, known as Jarl's Squad, is consistent from festival to festival, with additional participants joining them for the parade each time. It is an honor and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be invited to join Jarl's Squad. Jarl's Squad needs about 30 minutes to make it through the crowds of onlookers and to the burning site with the galley.

The torchlight procession and galley burning at Up Helly Aa are echoes of the Viking Chief cremation ritual and their religious ceremonies celebrating the return of the sun after the winter solstice, both of which have evolved over the course of Up Helly Aa's twelve centuries of existence. Even though the galley-burning and torch-lit procession are no longer part of modern Up Helly Aa, the partying and feasting that took place in Viking-era drinking halls is continued with revelers in Nordic fancy dress costumes celebrating all night long.

An Up Helly Aa party is a great idea for a unique and fun party theme. You could take a page out of Lerwick's book and refuse to postpone the event due to bad weather.
