4 Key Considerations When Choosing an RFID Tracking System in Singapore

So you have concluded that RFID will be the best solution. What next? Choosing the appropriate RFID solutions in Singapore for a given application is one of the most crucial phases of an RFID project. While the planning phase can be highly conceptual, the hardware selection requires a thorough examination. It is the moment when theory must give way to practise.

After determining that RFID is the appropriate technology for your application, there are four factors to consider.

1. Throughput.

How much/how fast? How much information will be written to and read from the tag? Will the tag move during the read/write or remain stationary? Some RFID solutions in Singapore can handle a lot of data, but others can only read a little. Consider if your data needs will change.

2. Environment.

How will the equipment be mounted? Is simple reading hampered? Exist metal beams, liquid tanks, or even humans between the tag and antenna? And the antenna can't read or write to the RFID tag due to interference. Hence, this is the most crucial factor. Metal and liquid can still affect RF waves, despite advances in an RFID tracking system in Singapore.

3. Form factor.

How much space fits mounting the reader and tag? If space is limited, you can opt for a system in which the antenna and the processor share a single housing. And as for the RFID tags, they can range in size from a grain of rice to a licence plate. And it is crucial to ensure that the equipment will not interfere with IT managed services in Singapore.

4. Read/write range.

What must the distance be between the antenna and the tag? Will it always be placed at the same distance from the antenna? Multiple frequency ranges may restrict some systems to a few millimetres, whereas others can transmit up to six or seven metres.
