When to Use a Panel Lifter

If you are in the process of erecting a new wall, you may want to use a panel lifter to make the job easier. These tools can be found at many home centers and are designed to lift flat, heavy objects. A panel lifter has two arms that lift and balance the sheet as it is moved. You can use them to carry long drywall sheets or balance the sheet around corners.

Although panel lifts are bulky, most models are easily disassembled into two or three parts that you can easily transport in the back of a pickup truck or the trunk of a midsize car. They can handle upper and lower wall sheets; some can tilt up to 65 degrees. Many lifts are also equipped with a hydraulic chain drive to increase their versatility.

Another everyday use for a panel lifter is when installing sheetrock. It can be tricky, as the clamps must match up with the clamps on the joist. If the joists are too far apart, the panel will hang loosely and could collapse. Luckily, a panel lifter allows you to do this job safely and with less risk of injury.

A panel lifter is an excellent addition to your construction toolbox. It makes it easier to install drywall by securely holding 4' x 8' or 12' sheets during the fastening process. It's not the fastest way to install drywall, but it allows one person to complete the task in a shorter amount of time. A panel lifter is generally shaped like an easel and has a hand crank to raise and lower the panels. Most are equipped with wheels at the base so you can adjust their position quickly.

A panel lifter is an essential piece of construction tool for many purposes. When used correctly, it is important to remember that a panel lifter can lift 80 pounds of panels. Its top edge will rest on a loader 28, and the bottom edge of the panel will rest on a stud or beam 82.

The load holder is secured to the base 32 of a panel lifter by at least one bracket 48. The lifter is then tilted toward panel 80. As the loader is tilted toward the panel, the center of gravity is close enough to ensure a smooth movement. That is especially important for large panels.

A panel lifter has many advantages. They are designed to help eliminate the need to use ladders. One of the most obvious advantages is that one person can use a panel lifter. A panel lifter also eliminates the need to carry a panel with two people.
