Cloud Computing Guide for Beginners

In the last decade, cloud computing has emerged drastically and has become one of the most sought-after technologies by most businesses. It caters to diverse needs of businesses ranging from storage, and databases to software development and analytics. Thereupon, the global market is now populated with numerous cloud computing companies. Even in India, the IT market is conquered by the top cloud computing companies in India who are specialized in offering cloud computing services not only to Indian clients but also to abroad clients.

But, before going deep into cloud computing practices, it is essential to know its basics. In this blog, we are going to discuss the basics of cloud computing only.

To begin, let us first know what cloud computing is, what are its benefits, its types, and its uses.

What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud computing is a technology used to deliver computing services i.e., storage, database, software, networking, and on-demand development over the internet. Cloud computing offers faster, scalable, and economical services. It is a flexible model that allows consumers to pay just for the services utilized.

Cloud computing is named “cloud” because it allows access to information from virtual space (cloud) and this information can be accessed remotely from anywhere.

Benefits of Cloud Computing

Cloud computing has drastically transformed the conventional way of utilizing IT resources. So, let us look at what benefits it offers due to which it has gained popularity in such a short span of time.

Cost-effective

The biggest benefit of cloud computing is its cost-effectiveness. It offers a pay-as-you-use model that reduces IT infrastructure buying and maintenance costs.

Accessibility

Another advantage that cloud computing offers is remote access to services like stored data, software, etc. over the internet.

Security

When we think about remote access to services, we might think that the cloud is not secured. But, on contrary, the cloud is a secured service that allows access to authorized users only.

Scalability

Cloud computing services are on-demand services. Therefore, as per demand, it can be scaled.

Types of Cloud Computing Models

Now, we come to the types of cloud computing part. Cloud computing is of primarily three types. They are as follows:

Public Cloud: It is owned and operated by a third-party service provider who provides storage space to users as per their demand and charge according to the storage utilized by them. Users can access their data through the internet and do not need to maintain cloud servers.

Private Cloud: It is set up by the cloud service provider on-site for a single business. The cloud setup is exclusively accessed by that business only.

Hybrid Cloud: It is a hybrid of both private and public cloud. In this, the crucial data is stored in the private on-site data center while other data is available on public cloud servers that can be accessed via the internet. It aids more flexibility to businesses where they can choose the service according to their need.

Types of Cloud Services

Cloud services are categorized into three main services that are as follows:

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS): It is one of the most popular types of cloud service. This service provides infrastructure like storage, servers, virtual machines, etc. on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Platform as a Service (PaaS): In this cloud service provider offers an on-demand platform for the development, testing, and management of software applications.

Software as a Service (SaaS): In this, software applications are made available over the internet on usually subscription basis.

I think with this brief introduction, the concept of cloud computing must be clear in your mind. To know more about cloud computing, you can go through the website of a cloud computing company in India.
