Rules of Conduct To Follow After Having A Positive RICS Assessment

These days, professionalism matters more than anything else. RICS is making it much easier for clients and the public to choose skilled experts and has confidence in what to expect then they hire an RICS professional who has attained a positive RICS assessment. Due to the change in market trends, the way RICS professionals become eligible and work is also going through a huge change to deliver confidence and address real market issues with ethical business practices.

The RICS Rules of Conduct have been updated recently to assist global professionals in responding to new risks and opportunities.

The new rules have taken the place of the previous version which had been in place for members and firms since 2007. RICS has introduced the below-given changes to bring our ethical standards into a clear framework:

A Simpler Structure: RICS has made it easier for its members and firms to understand new rules, providing more confidence for clients and the public.

Clear Examples: To help support members’ professional judgment, each rule is illustrated with examples of how a member and firm can behave to adhere to the Rule. There are also case studies showing the real-life application of the Rules. Therefore, if preparing for the RICS assessment, keep all these things in mind.

Paying heed to respect, diversity and inclusion: Whether it’s motivating diversity and inclusion, or dealing with modern slavery, respect and courtesy underpin all its professional ethics.

Understanding evolving technology: These Rules highlight the importance of understanding the evolving utilization of data and technology, and the associated risks and benefits.

Dealing with global challenges: The Rules show that ethical practice by an RICS member and firm has an important role if it’s about global challenges, including creating sustainable development and dealing with climate change.

APC (Assessment of Professional Competence):

The RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) is to make sure that the candidate is competent and satisfies the high standards of professionalism necessary to become a chartered surveyor.

These are an amalgam of technical and professional practice, interpersonal, business and management skills.
