NEW DelHI: Dholera will receive an airport soon within two years. A cabinet committee on economic affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday approved a proposal to upgrade phase I of the green airport at Dholera, Gujarat, at an estimated cost of Rs 1,305 crore, which must be completed within 48 months. The airport will also cover the nearest district and will serve as the second airport to Ahmedabad, the government said in a statement. “The new Greenfield Airport in Dholera is located about 50 kilometers from Ahmedabad Airport. The annual freight is estimated at 2025-26 tons, up from 2,73,000 tons over a 20-year period, ”the statement added.
