What material is best for gun cleaning patches?

When I first started cleaning my guns, I was using cotton gun cleaning patches. Cotton is a very common material for gun cleaning but it has some issues. The biggest problem with using cotton is that it doesn’t absorb as much moisture as other materials like microfiber or fleece do. This means that if you use your gun cleaning patch on a wet firearm, then it will have less absorption capacity than one made out of fleece or microfiber would have.

Cotton has been the traditional material for gun cleaning patches.

Cotton is the traditional material for gun cleaning patches. It's absorbent and cheap, with a soft feel that makes it easy to work with. However, cotton does not do well in extreme conditions: it can't stand up to high heat or cold temperatures and will get wet easily if exposed to moisture (like when you're cleaning your gun). Cotton also starts to lose its absorbency after repeated use—you'll need new ones every few weeks or so!

Why cotton isn’t the best material for gun cleaning patches.

Cotton is not the best material for gun cleaning patches because it's not absorbent, durable or soft. It's also not very strong.

Cotton is a great choice for many other purposes and can be used in different materials such as gauze and sponges, but it doesn't work well for patching guns.

What about fleece?

Fleece is a great material for cleaning guns. It's soft, which makes it easy to scrub away dirt and grime from the firearm's surface. Fleece can also be used to clean glass, mirrors, windows and other surfaces that are hard-to-reach areas such as door handles or car dashboard surfaces. The downside of fleece is its tendency to fray after repeated use; however, if you're looking for something with more durability than cotton fabric (which tends not only to fray but also absorb moisture), then fleece may be right up your alley!

What about microfiber?

Microfiber is a great material for cleaning patches. It's soft and absorbent, so it can be used on the patch itself or as a cloth or towel to wipe off any excess gunk that gets left behind. Microfiber is lightweight, so you'll have no problem applying pressure with your hand while cleaning your guns. And microfiber doesn't need to be laundered often—it's easy to clean up in mild detergent (and can even be machine washed). Microfiber also has very little static cling, which means that it won't attract dirt or dust like traditional cotton will do; this makes it ideal for use inside of your gun safe!

Microfiber is the best material for gun cleaning patches.

Microfiber is the best material for gun cleaning patches. It's soft, absorbent, and lint-free—the perfect combination of properties that makes it ideal for cleaning guns.

Microfiber is also better than cotton or fleece at absorbing oil and grease from your gun's bore. This means you can use less solvent on your patch before rinsing it out with water or another solvent (such as acetone). The higher cost of microfiber is offset by its superior performance when applied to cleaning patches.

We hope this article has given you some insight into what material is best for gun cleaning patches. We believe that microfiber is the most effective choice for your cleaning patch because it’s easy to use and doesn’t absorb moisture or leave residue behind. However, if you want something softer on your hands or prefer a more traditional feel then cotton might be a better option.
