Die-cutting hacks for paper crafts and card making

WHAT IS A DIE CUTTER AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

Crafts can be made with both manual and electric die-cutting machines. The die-cutting machine may be able to cut a variety of materials, including paper, cards, felt, foam, fabric, thin plastic, and so on.

Essentially, a metal die is placed on your material. The machine will then apply pressure and cut the shape out of the metal die for you. Consider metal dies to be cookie cutters, your material to be dough, and your die-cutting machine to be a rolling pin.

WHAT ARE METAL DIES?

Die sets are made of metal. They can take the form of shapes, words, letters, or backgrounds. These are the images that will be cut.

Some metal dies can be used straight from the package. Others may be linked by small wire connectors. You'll need small die cutters like these to separate your dies.

One side of the die is smooth, while the other side has ridges. The side with the ridges will be the one doing the cutting. As a result, the ridges of the die should always be facing the paper.

The die's smooth side has small holes. After running your material through the die-cutting machine, the holes assist you in poking it out of the die.

WHAT ARE DIE CUTS USED FOR?

Die cuts are one of the most popular paper crafting techniques. They can give your projects more dimension or interest. You can use a variety of shapes or word dies for die cuts. There are dies available to make your project 3D. You can cut out the exact shape, word, or design you want. They can be an embellishment, a sentiment, or the focal point of your project's design.

HERE ARE A FEW WAYS TO USE DIE CUTS:

Sentiment, embellishments, titles, design elements, and backgrounds for cards

Scrapbooking supplies include sentiments, embellishments, titles, design elements, and photo frames.

Sentiment, embellishment, title, design elements, and backgrounds for art journals

Dividers, decorations, sentiments, embellishments, and design elements are all included in the planner.

All of the above are examples of mixed-media artwork.
