A516 Gr 70 sheet is a low-temperature carbon steel plate that has a carbon content of 0.30 % to 0.35%. It contains chromium, manganese, silicon, and other alloying elements that make it stronger than other carbon steels. This steel plate also has excellent notch toughness, high-temperature fatigue resistance, and low-temperature impact toughness. It is one of the most commonly used and preferred grades for pressure vessels and boilers.


A516 Gr 70 sheet has a minimum tensile strength of 70,000 psi and a minimum yield strength of 38,000 psi. It has a minimum elongation of 21%. Its maximum hardness is 253 BHN. Its composition includes 0.30-0.35% carbon, 0.60-1.00% manganese, 0.035% phosphorus, 0.04% sulfur, 0.15-0.30% silicon, 0.40-0.70% chromium, 0.25-0.50% molybdenum, 0.02-0.10% vanadium, and 0.008-0.10% niobium.
