Animation Jobs produce multiple images called frames, which are sequenced together which creates the illusion of movement in the top animation studios in India. Professional animators create films for production companies, major animation studios and computer game companies. The best animators typically specialise in one of these media and further concentrate on a specific area, such as characters, scenery, or background designs. They use computer software to do their work. They are members of a team that includes other animators and artists who collaborate on projects. They also work with clients and production team members to establish their project goals. They have to read the script and speak with clients to understand their project’s requirements. The working hours for an animator are regular working hours, but as the deadline approaches one might need to work overtime even on weekends.


Qualification

The animator isn't required to have a college degree, but having a degree in animation, computer graphics, fine arts or related subjects will be advantageous. One can take up certificate courses like drawing, painting, and sculpting. Degree in animation requires training in drawing, animation and films. Many colleges have specialised degrees in interactive media or game designs.

Positions and Responsibilities

  • The animators have to work creatively to produce original and aesthetically pleasing designs and solutions.
  • They need to prepare presentations with raw designs for the clients.
  • They have to develop storyboards at the initial stage of production.
  • They have to use specialised computer softwares such as Maya, Flash and After Effects.
  • They have to present the designs to the clients for evaluations.
  • They have to create expressive character animation portraying a wide range of emotions.
  • They should create high-quality animation by utilising key animation and motion capture data.
  • They give and receive constructive, creative feedback across teams.
  • They have to collaborate with other animators, clients and producers.
  • They have to prototype and mock-ups for new types of products.
  • They need to brainstorm and conceptualise ideas, along with the ability to produce concept sketches and quick concept edits.
  • They have to join images with background graphics and special effects.
  • They need to ensure the synchronizations of frames and audio. 
  • They need to comprehend and execute direction from the lead animator or animation supervisor.
  • They need to be a part of the editing process.
  • They have to plan the work for the animation assistants.
  • They use a range of materials including, modelling clay, plaster, oil paints, watercolours and acrylic.
  • They have to develop the timing and pace of the movement of the characters or objects during the sequence of images and make sure they follow the soundtrack and the audio requirements.
  • They have to build up accurate frame-by-frame visuals.
  • They have to work up to the production deadlines and meet the client’s commercial requirements.
  • They work as a part of a broader production team, which might include liaising with printers, copywriters, photographers, website designers and market specialists.

Skills:

  • The animators should have good communication and interpretation skills as they function as a part of the team.
  • They must have good listening and speaking skills as they have to understand and convey accurate information to create a required animation.
  • They should have good time management skills as they have to meet the scheduled deadlines.
  • They should be creative as they have to generate ideas and bring them into function.
