Challenges to on-grid solar energy in Pakistan
The federal government of Pakistan has created an alternate renewable energy (IS) policy that is aimed at developing large-scale renewable projects in the country. It also encourages the utilization of renewable technologies in the country.
One of the major challenges for the Pakistani renewable energy sector is the lack of adequate power transmission network. Pakistan has a relatively weak power transmission and distribution system because of political instability. Additionally, it suffers from poor reliability. This degrades the service for the customers.
Another major challenge is the lack of financial resources. Pakistan has limited financial resources for large-scale investment. In addition, the cost of conventional power plants is high. Therefore, if Pakistan is to make the most of the renewable energy potential, it must ensure that there are sufficient resources for the development of infrastructure.
However, the solar and wind power sectors in the country have enormous potential. If they are expanded, the electricity market in the country can become cheaper and secure. Moreover, a greater proportion of the population will have access to clean energy.

World Bank provides $100 million to expand renewable energy in Pakistan

The World Bank recently signed an agreement with the Pakistan government to provide $100 million in financing to promote renewable energy development.
