Painting the Outside of Your House
Painting the outside of your Custom home can give it a modern appearance.
Items Required:
- Paint for the outside, either flat or eggshell
- Using an external, semi-gloss paint
- Tools for painting: pressure washer, paint sprayer, brush, and tape
- a tarp and a ladder
- To Clean Walls Using Pressure
Coverage will be maximised if dirt and dust are first removed with a power washer. It's best to start at the top of the house and work your way down, overlapping each stroke by 8 inches the whole time.
Repair the Broken Areas
Inspect the outside of the home from top to bottom, making a note of any harmed wood, masonry, metal, siding, or stucco. Use a spackle knife to apply epoxy filler to any gaps or holes. After everything is dry, a medium-grit sanding block will do the trick.
Take Down the Walls and Touch Up the Paint
At this point, you may inspect the house's perimeter for any loose or chipped paint that may have occurred while you were waiting for the outside to dry. Remove loose and chipped paint from the floor using a paint scraper or a sanding block with a medium grain.
Finishing the Caulking and Trimming
You may use external caulk and a caulking gun to seal any cracks in the siding or the trim around the windows and doors. Houses with a combination of siding and brick should have caulk applied to the joints.
First-Rate Spots
Find out whether there are any stains or wood knots on the outside. Use a paintbrush to apply one layer of stain-resistant primer to the area.
Safeguard Access Points, Glass, and Electricals
Use plastic sheeting and painter's tape to seal off rooms and keep dust out.
Exterior Painting
The paint sprayer should be loaded with exterior flat or eggshell colour. Apply one or two coats of flat or eggshell exterior paint to the home, depending on the desired coverage and colour saturation. Work from the top down steadily and deliberately, overlapping each stroke by 8 inches. When going from a light exterior to a dark one, or vice versa, it is recommended that a layer of priming be applied first. When repainting over an existing colour, a primer is not required.
