University of Greenwich Overview
The University of Greenwich is a well-known public university with four faculties: the Business School, the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering and Science, and the Faculty of Education and Health.
In recent National Student in UK Surveys, both the Greenwich faculty and its courses received impressive results, indicating the university's strong performance. Students consistently give higher marks to the university's English language programme, financial mathematics programme, business administration programme, computer security and forensics programme, and other programmes.

Greenwich University's History
Frank Didden founded the University of Greenwich in the United Kingdom in 1890. It was known as Woolwich Polytechnic at the time and was the second-oldest polytechnic in the United Kingdom. Woolwich Polytechnic, inspired by Quintin Hogg's principles, initially focused on education combined with social and religious functions.
By 1894, the emphasis had shifted to providing higher technical education. This resulted in the establishment of part-time day courses in collaboration with the Ministry of War (Woolwich Arsenal).
Woolwich Polytechnic was renamed Thames Polytechnic in 1970 after a merger with a portion of Hammersmith College of Art and Building. Dartford College (1976), Avery Hill College of Education (1985), Garnett College (1987), and parts of Goldsmiths College and the City of London College (1988) were absorbed in the years that followed.
The government granted Thames Polytechnic its first university status in 1992, after which it was renamed the University of Greenwich.
The Thames College of Health Care Studies officially merged with the University of Greenwich as a full faculty in 1993.
Natural Resources Institute (NRI), formerly a UK government research agency, also joined forces and officially merged with the university in 1996.

Greenwich University's Living Quarters
Around 2,400 places are available in halls on or near the University of Greenwich's three campuses: Avery Hill, Greenwich, and Medway. Accommodation is guaranteed for all first-year Greenwich students. While Avery Hill and Medway housing is close to their respective campuses, Greenwich is a 5-10-minute walk away.
If necessary, Greenwich students are also provided with privately rented housing. The University of Greenwich makes certain that all new students have a place to live, whether in a hall of residence or in a Greenwich-approved housing facility. Along with housing, the University of Greenwich offers free on-campus gym membership and access to ActiveGRE activities. Students can also take advantage of a free intercampus shuttle service that runs between Avery Hill and Greenwich throughout the day (Monday through Friday).
