There are distinct Harvard summer programs for high school students and you can choose any program that suits your needs. Summer is the best time to relax with friends and catch up and decompress after the busy school year in school. You can do both simultaneously at Harvard. Held on the Harvard campus, CyberMath offers amazing programs that allow students to learn and live like college students, strengthen their future college applications, and meet new friends.
There is the pre-college program which is a two-week, immersive and non-credit program that is designed to offer a glimpse of college life and the chance to explore learning for the sake of learning. There is also the secondary school program which is a seven-week intensive program that offers a robust college experience whilst earning college credit.
Whilst there are a lot of similarities between these two programs, they are different. You are allowed to apply to only one program so you will need to understand what each of these programs offers and choose the one that meets your needs before submitting your application. The good news about this is that whatever program you choose, your summer will be a truly special experience at Harvard.
Take your preferred college course on the subject you want
Both programs are taught by instructors affiliated with Harvard and are academically rigorous. You’ll experience what college courses are like when you join math summer camps and any other camps of your choice. You will have the chance to explore a topic that may not be available in high schools.
The difference
You will be learning for the sake of learning in the pre-college program. Because the program courses are not graded, you will be able to explore any subject you want without the stress of getting an A. The classes are taught by Harvard instructors and other experts and are intensive and small and will engage you in an interesting debate with other students.
On the other hand, in the secondary school program, you will be learning college credit alongside other college students and some adults. You will experience a wide range of perspectives and participate in great discussions that are not just possible in high school. You can choose from over two hundred classes taught by Harvard college professors as well as professors invited by faculty from other universities all over the world.
You will experience what it is like to be a college student
The two programs give you more flexibility and freedom in your schedule than you have in high school. You will balance your classes with homework, and extracurricular and social activities just as you will when you are in college.
The pre-college Harvard summer programs for high school students is an immersive and intensive two-week experience. You will be taking one college course in two weeks with the classes meeting daily for three hours.
