Mahindra to Launch Electric XUV300 as XUV400 in 2023

Mahindra & Mahindra's push towards EVs is part of a wider trend in the Indian auto industry, which is being driven by the government's push towards cleaner transportation. In 2019, the government announced its ambitious target of having all new cars sold in the country be electric by 2030. While the target has since been revised to be more gradual, it has still spurred a flurry of activity in the industry, with several automakers, including Tata Motors, Hyundai and MG Motor, launching electric cars in the country.

Mahindra, which is one of India's largest SUV makers, is now seeking to catch up with its rivals in the EV space. The company has identified EVs as a key growth area and is investing heavily in the development of new models. Apart from launching the XUV300/XUV400 and new 'born electric' SUVs, the company is also working on an electric version of the Thar, which is one of its best-selling models.

Mahindra's partnership with Volkswagen is expected to give it access to the German automaker's advanced EV technology, which could help it to stay ahead of the curve in the fast-evolving EV market. The two companies are reportedly in talks to collaborate on joint development of EV platforms and battery technology.

Overall, Mahindra's ambitious plans for the EV market show that it is committed to the development of cleaner, greener transportation in India. With the launch of the XUV300/XUV400 and other new models, the company is poised to make a significant impact in the growing EV market in the country.
