Context of the Recovery Version
The Recovery Version of the Bible was produced by Living Stream Ministry, which is an international evangelical publishing house. The founders of the publishing house had a vision for spreading the gospel and for producing a Bible that was faithful to the original manuscripts. They believed that there needed to be a closer examination of the scripture and wanted to produce a version that could be used as an accuracy measure by pastors, theologians, and other students of the Bible.
Living Stream Ministry started producing Bibles in the early 1990s. The Recovery Version of the Bible was published in the mid-1990s and is an exact translation of the Greek New Testament. The Recovery Version was produced to provide people with a closer understanding of the Bible and included a collection of footnotes, cross-references, and short notes about various verses and related topics.
