And in this article, we will look into how exactly IoT is changing the working of smart cities and in turn how it’s transforming the Urban living environment:

 

Firstly let’s understand what IoT is and what are its components:

 

IoT stands for the “Internet of Things”, which is a wide network of physical objects (or things) that are equipped with sensors (pieces of hardware that help detect changes in any environment and collect data), actuators (machine components that move or control the mechanisms of systems), software components, data processing capabilities, and connectivity that help facilitate the collection and exchange of data.

Additionally, smart meters can be used to monitor water consumption in real time, enabling users to detect and reduce water wastage.

 

6.   Intelligent Infrastructure - The Internet of Things (IoT) allows smart cities to create and build intelligent infrastructure systems. Such as devices built into roads, bridges, and buildings help collect data about their structural integrity, which can be used to predict maintenance needs and spot potential problems early on to help keep people safe and reduce the chance of infrastructure failure.
