The concepts of training and development are based on ethics that have a clear and steadfast intention of improving the efficiency of the staff and other workers within the organization, its team members, and all the concerned individuals within the organization. The term training can be categorically defined as the process of augmenting one's knowledge through the systematic study of concepts and the comprehension of such aspects for future practices. Development is the result that takes place with the proper usage of one’s knowledge for positive progression, which may be individual or organizational and is associated with the advancement of long-term individual and organizational objectives.
In this sector, terminologies like training and development have been generally associated with subject matters pertaining to staff education, human resources development, and knowledge management. In the initial stages, when the concept of organizational training services was still new, the training methods too were traditional, where most of the training was carried out through theoretical-based learning and conceptualization. This was because there wasn’t enough research done in this segment, and much of the theories were framed according to the trial-and-error-based studies that were available then. The advancement of scientific concepts brought about a drastic change in the theories, processes, and methodologies of training, and the use of audiovisual aids like television and computers transformed the scope and perspectives of training and development to a great extent.
