Pho- A Rich Blend of Tradition and Innovation!

Nothing like a steaming cup of pho noodle soup in Victoria. And if it rains in Victoria then Pho Victoria is all you need. The quality of the authentic Vietnamese food served in restaurants here is exceptional.

History of Pho

The French introduced the soup to Vietnam in the nineteenth century. The Vietnamese adapted the soup over time, and it is now a clear soup with noodles, usually served with meat or chicken. Other components, including as herbs, bean sprouts, spring onion, and chilli, are provided separately and added to the table. Sauces and condiments can also be utilised; in South Vietnam, hoisin is popular, while sriracha and soy are regular possibilities.

Furthermore, the increasing diversity and visibility of Asian-Canadian communities in Canada has led to a greater awareness and appreciation of traditional Asian foods like pho. Finally, the rise of social media and food bloggers has helped to spread the word about pho and other Asian foods.

What does Pho taste like?

Eating pho is similar to drinking tea in that it quenches thirst while also acting as a pick-me-up and restorative. The temptation is to say something like, 'Ahhhh, pho...' The soup has a wonderful depth and richness, with traces of smoke, Asian spices, and aromatics. You can season and alter further at the table by adding other ingredients and sauces.
