The government is very keen on promoting EVs in India.
As reported by PTI, the government has approved green licence plates for electric vehicles in India.
As per the new rule, private EVs will bear numbers in white fonts whereas cabs will have yellow coloured fonts.
The main reason behind this step is easy identification of EVs for preferential treatment in parking and free entry in congested zones.
Concessional toll rates are also proposed for EVs in future.
Such vehicles will be fitted with green licence plates bearing numbers in white fonts for private cars and yellow font for taxis," Nitin Gadkari told PTI.
Warning to automobile companies a few months ago, Road and Transport Minister Mr. Nitin Gadkari had said that instead of cars running petrol-diesel, vehicles or electric vehicles running other fuel will have to prepare vehicles which spread less pollution.
Companies which do not make clean fuel-driven vehicles will not be allowed to produce them.
It is clear from the government that by the year 2030, the vehicles will be fully electrified.
But some companies have started working on the electronic version of the foot, so it seems that Indian Road and Transport Minister Mr. Nitin Gadkari has the potential to be completed before 2030.
Indian Top Automobile companies have canceled their plans to build hybrid vehicles.
Now the company will focus solely on electric car technology and will start their assembly from India in the beginning of 2019.
