Physical therapy may be required after a surgical procedure, a sprain or a break, for age-related muscle and joint issues, for work or sport-related injuries, for ongoing or general aches and pains and balance issues. Most common therapiesThe hands-on therapy is offered by almost all physical therapists, but the advancement of science and technology means there are a variety of therapies issued.
Some of these include but are not limited to, deep tissue laser therapy, myofascial release, needling, vestibular rehab, orthotics, Kinesio taping and a range of balance therapies.
Physical therapy can be a combination of exercise and/or any of the above.Assessment and treatmentYou can consult a physical therapist or balance therapist directly, at an orthopedic physical therapy clinic, or get a referral from a health practitioner.
Even if you come with scans and x-rays, a physical therapist will assess you, communicate with you and come up with the best possible treatment plan.
You may need just one session of physical therapy but you may need a series of sessions before you see results.
Trauma from an age-related injury is treated differently from trauma from a sports injury.
