What are the difference between Canada Skilled work visa and Quebec Work Visa?

A qualified Canada work visa allows a person to live and work in a foreign country for a specific period of time. The type of work allowed can be limited and can lead to permanent residence.

Currently, there are two major economic immigration programs that affect Canada: the federal visa for skilled workers for Canada and the visa for skilled workers in Quebec.

Canada's migration regulations for this type of visa require that the worker perform the work included in the list of skills shortages. This list is drawn up by the Canadian government and includes all the professions and skills currently lacking among the current population of the country. Both visas are granted through a points-based system.

What are the differences between a qualified Canadian worker visa and a qualified Quebec worker visa?

When qualified migration is required in Canada, it is important to indicate where you plan to live and work in Canada and apply for the corresponding visa. The Canadian Canada Qualified Worker Visa applies to all territories of Canada, except Quebec, which has its own immigration process and requires a separate visa from the Quebec Skilled Worker.

The Canadian immigration process also varies slightly between the two types of visa. Visa applications for a qualified Canadian federal worker are sent to the Canadian High Commission. For the Quebec visa, applications must be sent to the Quebec immigration authorities.

Both the Québec qualified work visa and the Canadian federal qualified worker visa require candidates to pass an English test, called the International Language Testing System (IELST), to demonstrate their knowledge of English.

To obtain a Quebec qualified worker visa, you must also pass the Francais Assessment Test (TEF) or the French Assessment Test for the Quebec test (TEFaq) to demonstrate your ability in the French language. Once approved, the results are valid for two years for immigration purposes.

Once you have obtained a Canada work visa qualified by Quebec, you need to live and work in Quebec for a specific period of time, after which you can move to live and work anywhere in Canada.

The federal visa for Canada skilled workers allows you to work anywhere in Canada, except Quebec.

We can help you during the visa application process, regardless of which part of Canada you choose to move to. Call us with all visa requests and we will be happy to help you.
