A new campaign which aims to bring the country together has been launched in Britain to mark one year to go until the Tokyo 2020 Summer Games.
The Government initiative entitled Sport is great is designed to ramp up support for the British team which is set to compete at next year’s Games in the Japanese capital.
The campaign is supported by the British Olympic Association BOA and UK Sport among others.
It forms part of an international promotional campaign being run by the British Government to promote the sport in the country to a worldwide audience.
The campaign launched with a video that starts by pointing out that Brits can’t agree on much these days not everybody watches Love Island or is into the cricket and the nation is divided over Brexit sauce preferences and a range of other things.
British athletes at Tokyo Summer Games 2020 are due to benefit from around £265 million ($328 million/€295 million) of lottery funding as the team bids to replicate the success they enjoyed at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
