The chimney is not everything

When building a house, we have to plan and think about everything carefully. Only then will it be just as we dreamed it would be and it will perform well. We have to make many dedications relatively early on in the project. One of them may be the decision to heat and warm the house properly.

The stove, chimney and proper insulation of the attic are several aspects that will provide warmth for the whole family in winter. In a sense, you could say that the whole house heating system is a set of connected dishes. When choosing a given heating source, we have to match it with the right flue outlet thanks to the right chimney. So everything has to work together. Additionally, the whole house must be properly insulated so that the heat does not escape too quickly in winter. Thanks to this we will not only get warmer, but also pay smaller bills.

Heating source

One of the first decisions we should make is to choose the right heating source. Currently, the choice is quite large. Heat pumps, solid fuel boilers, gas boilers and many other heating systems are just waiting to be implemented in our house. Which one is the best? There is no clear answer to this question. Each of them has its pros and cons. Solid fuel boilers are economical, but not the most comfortable. Gas-fired boilers are convenient, but they are more expensive. So everything really depends on our preferences and financial possibilities.

Chimney

Once you have chosen the right heating system for your home, you will also have to choose the right chimney. This is very important because most domestic heating sources produce compounds that should be safely expelled from our home. We can choose between ceramic and steel chimneys. Each of them, like heating sources, has its own advantages and disadvantages and unique properties. Some are recommended for gas boilers, others for solid fuel boilers. That is why we should first choose a heating source and only then a suitable chimney.

Insulation

As we mentioned at the beginning, we also cannot forget about the proper thermal insulation of the house. Here too, the choice is quite wide. Polyurethane foam shower, glass wool or Styrofoam are just some of the possibilities. However, it is important to use one of these materials and warm up your attic and walls well. Thanks to this, more heat will stay in our house and we will save on energy.
