40 Important Supplications/Duas For Kids

Allah says in Surah Baqarah that He responds to invocations when humans ask him for something. Supplication and duas are some of the most essential things that Muslims can use in their everyday life. It is imperative for kids to start learning duas at a young age, so that they can begin to implement them and get used to them early on in life.

The importance of duas cannot be overstated. The Prophet (PBUH) said in a Hadith collected by Tirmidhi that supplication is the only way for a person to change his destiny. These are some of the most important supplications for kids:

After waking up

All praise to Allah, He gave us life after taking it from us. Unto Him is the resurrection.

Before using the toilet

In the name of Allah, O Allah, I take refuge in you from evil and evil-doers.

When exiting the toilet

I ask You for forgiveness, oh Allah.

When wearing clothes

All Praise to Allah Who clothed and provided me with the garment, with no power nor might from myself.

When wearing new clothes

For You is all praise, Oh Allah, You clothed me with the garment. I ask You for good of it and good for which it was made, and I seek refuge with You from evil of it and evil for which it was made.

When you see someone else wearing new clothes

This dua is a supplication for long life.

Upon leaving home

In the name of Allah. I place trust in Allah, there’s no might or power except for Allah.

Upon entering home

We enter in the name of Allah, and we leave and in the name of Allah, and we place our trust in our Lord.

While visiting the ill

Never mind, may the sickness be a purification, if Allah wills.

I ask Allah The Supreme, Lord of the magnificent throne to cure you. (7 times)

When it rains

O Allah, may it be a beneficial rain cloud.

When you hear thunder

How perfect He is, Whom the thunder declares His perfection with His praise, as do the angels out of fear of Him.

When it rains too much

Oh Allah, let rain fall around us, not upon us. Oh Allah, let it fall on the pastures, hills, valleys and the roots of trees.

Before eating

O Allah, bless it for us and feed us better than it.

Before eating (if Bismillah is forgotten)

In the name of Allah in its beginning and end.

Before drinking milk

O Allah, bless it for us, give us more of it.

After finishing a meal

Allah be praised with an abundant beautiful blessed praise. He is The One Who is sufficient, feeds and is not fed. The One Who is longed for, along with that which is with Him and The One Who is needed, He is our Lord. Allah be praised.

By the guest, for the host

O Allah, bless for them, that which You have provided them, forgive them and have mercy upon them.

When seeing the early or premature fruit

O Allah, bless our fruit for us, bless our town for us, bless our saa for us and bless our mudd for us.’ (Forms of measurement: A saa is equivalent to four mudds; a mudd is equivalent to the measure of an average man’s two palms.)

Sneezing

When you sneeze:

All praise is for Allah.

When you hear someone else sneeze:

May Allah have mercy upon you.

Reply by sneezer for the above dua:

May Allah guide you and rectify your condition.

During moments of anger

I take refuge with Allah from the accursed devil.

Dua for forgiveness at the conclusion of a gathering (and upon leaving a gathering)

How perfect You are O Allah, and I praise You. I bear witness that None has the right to be worshipped except You. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.

To thank someone

May Allah reward you with goodness.

For one who proclaims his love for you for Allah’s sake

May He, for whom you have loved me, love you.

Upon mounting any kind of transport

In the name of Allah and all praise is for Allah. How perfect He is, the One Who has placed this (transport) at our service and we ourselves would not have been capable of that, and to our Lord is our final destiny. All praise is for Allah, All praise is for Allah, All praise is for Allah, Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest. How perfect You are, O Allah, verily I have wronged my soul, so forgive me, for surely none can forgive sins except You.

While entering the market/mall

None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise. He gives life and causes death, and He is living and does not die. In His hand is all good and He is over all things, omnipotent.

Upon receiving good news

All Praise is for Allah by whose favor good works are accomplished.

Upon receiving bad news

All Praise is for Allah in all circumstances.

When you hear a rooster, donkey or dog

I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed Shaytaan.

When in fear of people

O Allah, protect me from them with what You choose.

When feeling pain

Place your hand at the site of the pain and say: In the name of Allah (3 times). Then supplicate seven times: I take refuge in Allah and within His omnipotence from the evil that I feel and am wary of.

When things become difficult

O Allah, there is no ease except in that which You have made easy, and You make the difficulty, if You wish, easy.

Upon seeing a dream

If anyone sees a good dream, he should only relate it to those whom he loves.

If anyone sees a bad dream, he should spit towards his left side three times and then say أَعـوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الشَّيْـطانِ الرَّجيـم and turn to the opposite side from the one he was sleeping on previously. He should not narrate the dream to anyone.

Dua for studying

O Allah, increase me in knowledge.

When opening the fast

Thirst has gone, the arteries are moist, and the reward is sure, if Allah wills.

When commencing the fast

I intend to keep the fast for tomorrow in the month of Ramadan

Before sleeping

Recite the last three Surahs (Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas) of the Quran, hold palms together, spit (mainly air with little spit) in them, then wipe over his entire body with the hands, beginning with the head and face and then all parts of the body, three times.

Recite Ayat al-Kursi (Surah Baqarah, Verse 255 in the Quran) and there will remain a protection from Allah over you and no devil will draw near to you until morning.

Recite the last two verses of Surah Baqarah.

Subhan’Allah (thirty-three times), Alhamdulillah (thirty-three times), Allahu’Akbar (thirty-four times)

Lastly: بِاسْمِكَ اللَّهمَّ أَمُوْتُ وَأَحْيَا (In Your name oh Allah, I live and die).

When afflicted by a calamity, or upon hearing of someone passing away

To Allah we belong and unto Him is our return. O Allah, recompense me for my affliction and replace it for me with something better.

While ascending or descending (as is the case with stairs)

Ascending: Allah is the greatest. Descending: How perfect Allah is.

Remembrance in the morning and evening

In the morning:

O Allah, by your leave we have reached the morning and by Your leave we have reached the evening, by Your leave we live and die and unto You is our resurrection.

In the evening:

O Allah, by Your leave we have reached the evening and by Your leave we have reached the morning, by Your leave we live and die and unto You is our return.

Duas for seeking forgiveness and repentance

Lord, forgive me. My Lord, forgive me.

I seek the forgiveness of Allah and repent to him.

My Lord, forgive me and accept my repentance, You are the Ever-Relenting, the All-Forgiving.

I seek Allah’s forgiveness, besides whom, none has the right to be worshipped except He, The Ever Living, The Self-Subsisting and Supporter of all, and I turn to Him in repentance.

O Allah, forgive me all my sins, great and small, the first and the last, those that are apparent and those that are hidden.

O Allah forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, support me, protect me, provide for me and elevate me.
