Google Cloud – How to get one

Cloud storage is a fantastic way to save information digitally, without storing it on a local device. The cloud makes it possible to access the information anywhere you might be, as long as there is an Internet connection. Google Cloud is one of the most used cloud storage services, and with most people holding at least one Google account, taking advantage of Google Cloud isn’t a bad idea. You can have all of your Google accounts (Gmail, YouTube, Android and others) automatically back up to the account so, should something ever happen and you lose your account information, all of your data is saved and can be instantly recovered. So, you just need to know how to sign up for a Google Cloud account and what the best way is to access the information.

Google Cloud Website

First, head on over to the Google Cloud website (cloud.google.com). Once you arrive you are going to be granted with some information about Google Cloud and what all your re able to do with it. It shows you different pricing options to use Google Cloud (storage isn’t cheap to produce, so it does need to charge for services). However, if you are interested in testing it out but don’t want to make a financial commitment just yet, you are able to “Try it Free.” This way, you have 60 days to test out Google Cloud to see if it is right for you. From there, you are able to either cancel the service or opt in for one of the pay packages. It is up to you.

Taking Advantage of the Free Trial Period

When on the Google Cloud website click on the “Free Trial” blue button. There are several of these scattered throughout the page, so you shouldn’t have an issue finding it (one is located in the upper right corner of the page and one is listed in the middle of the page). Once you click on the button you are going to be taken to a new page where you fill out your individual information.

The top of the page informs you again about having access to up to $300 worth of Google Cloud coverage that lasts 60 days. It also provides the “Terms and Conditions” link if you are interested in reading this information. On the page though, you need to select your current country or origin, your default currency (USD is selected, unless you choose a different country, in which case you are given USD and a few other options, based on the country you select). You then click if it is a business or individual account and your address information. You also need to include your contact information, such as your name, phone number and email address. If you already have a Gmail account it is easier to type that in here, this way the Gmail and Google Cloud service is able to communicate back and forth. Lastly, you’ll select how you wish to pay for the service after the 60 days (you can always cancel, but billing begins automatically after 60 days, so you need to have this information on hand ahead of time). You can select either bank account or credit/debit card. Lastly, check off that you understanding the billing information and click the “Accept and Start Free Trial.” This launches your trial Google Cloud period.

With access to Google Cloud, you are able to store information onto your cloud account whenever you want, which is exactly why it is such a valuable service. You can determine if it works best for your own needs.
