What is COVID-19? Symptoms, Causes and Precautions - Needs For Home Quarantine

Corona Virus, which is termed as a Pandemic, has already created a huge health crisis that has covered the whole globe. The term “coronavirus” means a cluster of RNA viruses that causes a chain of diseases in animals as well as humans.

The symptoms are as equal as the common flu, cough, and fever. In extreme cases, this virus attacks the respiratory system which makes it deadly due to the acute breathing issues. They are tiny water droplets that can be transmitted through coughing and sneezing. Human touch is the main cause with which it can be easily transferred and grow wildly. The Virus is not airborne but it sustains on every object when someone’s saliva falls on them via air.

A vehicle to doorknobs Corona Virus stays for as long as 3 days on any object. People touch almost everything, every day. In case an infected person has touched a surface, the probability of others getting infected by touching the same surface is high. The hand then comes in contact with the mouth or nose which makes way for the virus to enter the human body. Millions of people who are going out for work are exposed to this virus on a daily basis which spreads rapidly.

The incubation period of this virus is between 1-14 days. During this duration, an affected person may show the symptoms or may not till all the tests are done. Mostly the elderly people and the children are on the edge as they are easy prey for this virus. The immune system of both is a comparatively weak and easy host. The estimated data of the pandemic increased drastically in some countries. As a result, there was a lockdown.

The roads were sanitized, even the public transport systems. Factories, schools, offices and every institution were shut. This shall continue till any further intimation is received from the higher authorities. No cure or vaccination has been made for the virus yet. Doctors are struggling day and night to treat infected patients. The virus tests are done on a regular interval for the patient to test negative. Patients are quarantined or isolated until the time they are free from the virus.

Symptoms and causes of COVID-19

People infected with the virus are most likely to develop flu-like symptoms such as cough, fever, shortness of breath, and fatigue. The emergency symptoms in patients include breathing difficulty, persistent chest pain, bluish face or lips, confusion, and walking difficulty. Since nothing of these sorts has been recorded before the symptoms from patients to patients are also changing. The less common symptoms such as sneezing, sore throat, runny nose along with symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea are also found in the patients. In a recent Covid19 case the common symptom was anosmia (loss of sense of smell). This disease fastly progresses to pneumonia, failure of multiple organs, and death.

This disease has spread rapidly because one doesn’t show symptoms as soon as they are infected. There is a delay, the incubation period can range from 2-14 days, and it is typically 5 to 6 days in most cases. Some of the details regarding the disease spread are still not clear. But CDC and WHO have stated that the reasons could be by the small droplets respiratory droplets produced while people cough or sneeze or close contact. One way you could stop the spread of this disease is by distancing yourself from people.
