- If quicken won’t open then there is a high possibility that it has not been installed or configured correctly. You need to go through the manual and install it properly and configure it carefully.
- There might be an issue with .net framework which would restrict quicken from open. We will be mentioning the correct way to install these files.
- It is not only important to update quicken but it is also important to update your system. Check from updates from time to time and refrain from clicking ‘Install Later’ and do it right away.
- Scan your system with antivirus software as virus could be a reason why quickens won’t open. Make sure you scan the whole system and delete all the viruses. If you don’t find any virus then disable the antivirus as it might be stopping quicken from opening.
Steps to follow if Quicken won’t open
- Download the latest update
- Press control, shift and esc keys together
- Click one time on Quicken and then press End Task
- Click on ‘Download’ that you will see on the screen
- Click on ‘Run’ and give access to user permission
- Now click on ‘Update’ in order to install the latest release
- Start Quicken once you have updated
- Open without data files
- Open quicken by pressing control and shift key together
- A black grey screen will pop up
- Drag your cursor to ‘File’ in the ribbon bar and click on ‘Restore from backup file’
- Browse your backup file where you have saved it and open them
- Click on ‘Restore Backup’
- This will help you with ‘quicken won’t open’ issue but if not then continue reading
- Install .net framework
- Usually quicken .net framework is installed automatically but you can install it manually by visiting the official website
- Once you have downloaded it, run .net framework .exe file and follow the instructions displayed on screen.
- Try to run quicken after installation is done
- Check quicken compatibility
- Go to ‘Properties’ by right clicking quicken’s icon
- Choose ‘Compatibility’
- You will find an option to ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’
- Select the very last option that you see in the list
- Click Apply and uncheck ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’
- Again click on ‘Apply’ followed by ‘Ok’
- Check compatibility with Window 7 or previous
- Go to my computers and open Drive C
- Go to ‘Program File’ folder
- Look for ‘Quicken Folder’ and open QW.exe file and double click on it
- Check compatibility for Windows 10/8
- Open ‘Run’ and enter ‘C’
- Double click on Program File (86)
- Open quicken folder and click on qw or qw.exe
- Disable Antivirus
- Go to control panel
- Search for your antivirus software
- Right click the icon and ‘Disable’ it
- Uninstall if quicken won’t open
- Go to control panel
- Click on ‘Program’
- Click on Program and Features
- Scroll through your list of programs and look for ‘Quicken’
- Single click on it and select the option to ‘Uninstall’ it
- Reinstall Quicken
- Go to quicken’s website
- Go to ‘sign in’ and choose My Accounts
- Fill in your credentials
- You will get instructions on your screen in order to login into your customer portal
- Select ‘Plan Details’ and download it from the options
- Once you are done with the installation, launch Quicken and enter your id password
- You will receive a verification code.
- Enter the code and follow on screen instructions
