Civil engineering is an engineering discipline that is responsible for infrastructure development of a city, town or village. Roads, bridges, canals, dams, seaports, airports, residential buildings, etc are all creations of civil engineers. Civil engineering may be not as glamorous as some other engineering disciplines but it is certainly an important field. Some of the civil engineering marvels of the world include Hoover Dam, Eiffel Tower, Golden Gate Bridge and many others. Civil engineering enables roads to be built through high mountain ranges and bridges to be constructed on turbulent rivers. Water supply of a city or town and sewage system are all planned and constructed by civil engineers.

Students of PCM who want to pursue a B.Tech course in civil engineering have a host of options of colleges, both government and private, for the same.

The colleges 

There is noGovernment Civil Engineering College in Gurgaon. However, there are many reputed private institutions in the city where one can get enrolled for a course in civil engineering.

St. Andrews Institute of Technology and Management (SAITM), Gurgaon offers B.Tech program in civil engineering besides other disciplines of engineering. The college is affiliated to Maharshi Dayanand University. Admission is granted on the basis of JEE Mains.

SGT Institute of Engineering and Technology, Gurgaon owned by the Shri Guru Gobind Singh Trust offers a 4 year B.Tech program in civil engineering beside other engineering disciplines such as IT, mechanical, computer science, etc.

MVN University was established in the year 2006 and has a school of engineering and technology, school of management studies and school of computer sciences. The university offers B.Tech program in civil engineering.

There is no dearth of good private engineering colleges in Gurgaon. However, since there is no Government Civil Engineering College in Gurgaon, students can apply at a suitable Government Civil Engineering College in Haryana apart from the millennium city

Government institutions in Haryana

Chaudhary Devi Lal Institute of Engineering and Technology is a Government Civil Engineering College in Haryana. It is located at PanniwalaMota in the district of Sirsa. The college offers undergraduate engineering programs in various fields including civil engineering. Civil Engineering department has a total vacancy of 60 seats every year. Admission is granted by the central admission committee appointed by the state government on the basis of the rank obtained in the JEE Mains. There are no management seats.

Kurukshetra University also offers B.Tech programs in various disciplines including civil engineering. Admissions are given on the basis of the rank obtained in JEE Mains and depends upon the number of seats available in the department of civil engineering.

Delhi-NCR

Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi is undoubtedly the best Government Civil Engineering College in Delhi NCR. Admission into a B.Tech program in IIT Delhi is possible by clearing the JEE Advanced examination and figuring high in the merit list.

Jamia Milia Islamia is a central university based in Delhi. Jamia’s Faculty of Engineering and Technology is also a reputed Government Civil Engineering College in Delhi NCR. The college also offers bachelors degree in six other engineering disciplines besides civil engineering.
