What is Positive Thinking?

Positive thinking is a well-known idea first presented in 1937 by Napoleon Hill. His book never uses the word "positive" but talks extensively about the power of positive thinking as an influencing factor of personal success. According to Hill, positive thinking generates enthusiasm, faith, courage, and self-esteem which, in turn, creates an atmosphere of relaxed acceptance.

The attitude one exhibits with positive thinking will cause that person to see things in a different light, enabling them to act on those ideas accordingly. However, for those who need to apply their positive thinking techniques in order to obtain personal success, the initial hurdle they have to overcome is that very few people are prepared to put in the required effort. The best way to achieve self-succeeding is not only to change your attitude, but also to begin applying techniques for achieving personal success.

Why Positive Thinking is Required ?

Before you can get started, it is important to start with an optimistic frame of mind. It has been proven that if you start with an attitude of gratitude and begin to think positively, it is very likely that your thinking will also be positive. For instance, if you always feel upset about something, then you will be prone to having negative thoughts. The only way to avoid this is to change your outlook towards the problem. Develop Positive Habit

Developing positive thinking habits is not all that difficult. The important thing is that you try to implement these thoughts and beliefs into your life as often as possible. It may take some time for you to be fully aware of all the positive things you are thinking. Start out small, such as making a list of all the positive thoughts you have every day. When you start to notice them, write them down so that you can see for yourself what makes you happy and what does not. Writing things down is a great way to remember them.


The only way for positive thinking to really help you is by using it as part of your everyday life. This does not mean you should never think negatively, only that you should use positive words. Think of positive images in your mind and try to live in a positive world. You will soon find that your mood will improve as will your outlook on life.
